MERCEDES-BENZE HAVE LOST their decade long reign in the premium car market to BMW in the first two months of 2009 . Mercedes sold 315 cars in the January –February period whereas BMW sold 514 cars during the same period . Audi , which has been the last to enter the Indian market , has sold 222 cars in the first two months of 2009 to Emerge as the third best in the segment . Audi and BMW have been Prompt in bringing their latest models in the domestic market but Mercedes- Benz still continues to sell some of its older models and technologies in India . Younger buyers who are new in this segment also seem to prefer the sportier offerings from Audi and BMW . The increasing number of Audi and BMW showrooms coming up in cities other than the metros must have also helped cause this upheaval In no small measure.
